Trevigue is steeped in history having been a farm since before the Norman Conquest and is mentioned in the Doomsday book. The farm is partly tenanted from the National Trust and extends to 800 acres. It has three miles of stunning coastline with impressive cliffs and the lovely, unspoilt Strangles beach, the haunt of smugglers in times past and more recently of the famous author, Thomas Hardy.

350 acres of the farm have been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to the richness of its wildlife and its fascinating geological features. There are two private nature reserves and a wildlife information centre on the farm.

Our resident conservationist
, Francis Crocker, has won awards for his work in conserving farmland biodiversity and for his outstanding contribution to agriculture and wildlife.
Francis conducts farm conservation tours, nocturnal walks through the ancient woods, cliffside explorations and guided access to the nature reserves.

Environmentally friendly practices have been re-introduced on the farm and much conservation work is being done to encourage flora and fauna.

South Devon cattle and rare breed Gloucester Old Spot pigs are raised on the farm and wild ponies from Dartmoor and Bodmin moor and feral goats graze the cliffs.

In recent years Trevigue has diversified into providing holiday accommodation. The 16th Century farmhouse has been sympathetically refurbished and whilst still retaining its ancient character, offers comfortable Bed and Breakfast accommodation. In addition the farm has luxuriously appointed coastal cottages offering self-catering accommodation.

Trevigue was the first farm in the country to become a venue for civil weddings and its spectacular setting and award winning restaurant have made it a popular choice.

As members of CoaST, we are committed to the successful development of sustainable tourism in Cornwall and work hard to reduce our carbon footprint by, for example, sourcing much of the food used in our restaurant and bed and breakfast from our own farm and from other local producers. Visitors are welcome to purchase meat direct from our farm. Organic eggs are also available from Tom Crocker at neighbouring Tremaine.
